Beautiful, warm, and calm for today's stage.  Finally.

Where the Deer and the Antelope play.  Actually, not sure about the deer, but the place is lousy with antelope.



Turns out we have been here before, sort of:

On the horizon.  One week shy of 14 years ago.



As if the ride to Devil's Tower wasn't already enough, we did the hike around its base.

We spent the night at the Devil's Tower lodge, which isn't in the park, but can only be reached by going through it.  The lodge was, umm, different.  But in a way that is different, but not bad.  Aside from being completely dry, that is.  Definitely a room with a view:

Merely 37 miles; we need to step up the pace.  2049 pace stepping up opportunities ahead.

Here because of the Grace of God, We Are

How else to look at the fact we are in White Salmon, WA with everything going smoothly, instead of having the plan go all 'splodey at the outset ? Much better photo ops today. Columbia River, just east of Camas.  New Hampshire is out there somewhere We rode along Highway 14.  Terrain leaves few east west options, so we were forced to share the highway. Booking along the Columbia .  Twenty knots on the tail didn't hurt our feelings in the least. There are tunnels . Much steepness into White Salmon .  No way we are doing that without cheating. Fifty-three more miles behind us.   3,255 to go.

Leaving the Mountain West Behind

OK, not quite.  The Bighorns remain tomorrow, but the landscape change today was striking.  And made all the more enjoyable by a tailwind practically hurling us down the road. On with today's saturation photo bombing. Crazy Mountain, speaking of crazy. The last of the Rockies The first of the Plains Alongside the Yellowstone River Just past where the road disappears is today's destination, Joliet, SD.  Tomorrow's is straight ahead, over the horizon: Lovell, WY. Susan's funky tan lines Sixty-one spectacular miles.   2395 very different miles to come.
