Actually, An Even Easier Day

Perhaps the easiest yet — all of it along the Erie Canal Trail.  Almost all paved, and the only way there could have been fewer hills is if we had been suddenly transported to the Netherlands.

Unfortunately, as is increasingly the case, lush also means hemmed in by the lushness.  Not many photo ops, just a lot of this, and this.

Knocked another sixty-six miles off the dwindling stack.  Two hundred twenty eight still to knock.

Here because of the Grace of God, We Are

How else to look at the fact we are in White Salmon, WA with everything going smoothly, instead of having the plan go all 'splodey at the outset ? Much better photo ops today. Columbia River, just east of Camas.  New Hampshire is out there somewhere We rode along Highway 14.  Terrain leaves few east west options, so we were forced to share the highway. Booking along the Columbia .  Twenty knots on the tail didn't hurt our feelings in the least. There are tunnels . Much steepness into White Salmon .  No way we are doing that without cheating. Fifty-three more miles behind us.   3,255 to go.

Leaving the Mountain West Behind

OK, not quite.  The Bighorns remain tomorrow, but the landscape change today was striking.  And made all the more enjoyable by a tailwind practically hurling us down the road. On with today's saturation photo bombing. Crazy Mountain, speaking of crazy. The last of the Rockies The first of the Plains Alongside the Yellowstone River Just past where the road disappears is today's destination, Joliet, SD.  Tomorrow's is straight ahead, over the horizon: Lovell, WY.
