Getting From Haven't Gone to Nearly Going
The astute reader, or, indeed, anyone with the slightest experience of time will have noted that there is a fair gap between March 2023, and May 2024. A gap that reeks of avoidance.
Ok, as deductions go, fair enough. But incorrect, nonetheless.
At the moment we reached mutual agreement that was not without a hint of challenge, Susan announced "I'm not going except on an ebike." About which I had not considered, and knew even less. After what couldn't have been more than not very much internetting, we settled upon a matched pair of these. Because reasons, none of which involved an actual test ride.
And there goes a month before they arrive.
Then some more time shaking them down, while learning the many combinations of various button pushings to make the control panel chooch. And hearing Odd Noises from unfamiliar machinery.
Followed by repeated dis- and reassemblings of said machinery to not quite totally successfully banish said noises, while breaking things in the process. There are three plastic covers around the motor, very subtly and variously held in place. Absent any sort of documentation, my process was trial and error, with heavy emphasis on error. Thankfully, replacement parts were readily available and not expensive.

That, and several already planned trips, along with a healthy dose of winter, put paid to fourteen months.
